What Does Cypriot Legislation Require?
The obligation to issue legally compliant receipts and invoices, as well as the specifications for fiscal mechanisms, are governed, among others, by:
- K.D.P. 29/1997: Regulations concerning the issuance of invoices, receipts, and record-keeping.
- Regulation 7(6) of K.D.P. 29/1997: Specifications for cash registers in use.
- K.D.P. 224/2010: Technical specifications for Fiscal Electronic Mechanisms.
- Law 95(I)/2000: Value Added Tax (VAT) Law, as amended from time to time.
Businesses are required to issue legally compliant fiscal documents and, where the use of a fiscal mechanism is mandatory, to use approved equipment.

1. Is the installation of a fiscal mechanism mandatory?
Cypriot legislation requires businesses to issue legally compliant fiscal documents. Where a business falls under the provisions requiring the use of an approved fiscal mechanism for issuing such documents, the appropriate equipment is mandatory. The requirements depend on the nature of the business activity and the method used to issue fiscal documents.
2. Do I need a separate fiscal mechanism for each store?
